Beautiful! I keep waiting for my apple tree to start budding and blooming, but it's showing no signs and has me a bit worried. It's an old apple tree and produces wonderful tart apples that are so delicious for cobblers and applesauce. Last year a late freeze got all the apples that would have been. I'm hoping it survived the awful drought we've had this past year. (I'm probably just being impatient :)

Mine is booming much too early.
I will say, this winter was mild enough I had apples twice- once in the summer and once around November.
I think we all had horrendous droughts last year; I know we were under fire warnings quite often throughout the summer and fall.
By chance, do you know anything about using 'rain barrels' or some other receptical for collection and irrigation? That is a bee in my bonnet for this season.

That's a great question because with our water shortage (if it continues, and I believe it will - our table is like 15 inches under) I've wondered how the veg gardens will do. I won't be "watering" - lol, and I also need to come up with idea. I have a gutter on one side of the house that would be a good "catch" (and now I need to find a HUGE barrel for those down pours and make use of that water for at least the smaller flower beds and pots.)
Having apples twice a year would be really neat. I set my first fig tree out this Dec because I absolutely LOVE fig preserves, and in a few years I'm hoping to have some figs. Problem is, I don't know how to make preserves LOL!
